Snorkelling with Manta Rays

Yes, we do have an awesome time here in Big Island. There is so much to see and to explore. I understand why my former colleague has spent months here….

Yesterday was an unforgettable day. In the morning we checked out Kua Bay, which is said to be the most beautiful beach on the island. Turquoise ocean, white sandy beach and few body surfer playing in the waves. We spent three hours there…. Wischiro got sometimes bored but we made three fully hours on the beach. Let’s call it a Beachday. We also got sunburnt for the first time this holiday. After we headed back to Kona Kailua the rain started again. There are usually millimeters of rain each month. It rained so much it probably won’t rain anymore for the entire year.

Unbelievable for one day to have two completely weather conditions.

In the evening it got a bit better again and we saw an amazing sunset. At 7 pm we had a boat picked us up a bit further of Kona. We were lucky that we had a private your for the snorkeling with the Mantas. The tour Ocean Hawaiian Tour (http://www.hawaiiislandandoceantours.com)
takes max. 6 people… Which i can highly recommend.
So we took the boat close to a hotel, which was built from a famous architect. The lights of the hotel attracts the Mantas. We had a board with a light where the manta could see the planktons. 3-5 meter big mantas were flipping underneath our bodies. We had them for 40 minutes to ourselves. It is always a big competitions with different boats etc. but we were lucky we got them the whole time and also the biggest one. It is an unforgettable experience.
