Amazing trip to Halong Bay
We booked the trip in advanced according to a recommendation of Sonja. However, we didn’t know what we expect. I also cannot remember anymore how it was like when I was here in year ’98!
The bus took us within 3 hours to Halong City. It was quite a long ride, but not so long for the jetlagged Mila and Wischiro. We were sleeping almost the whole bus ride. Afterwars we changed into the boat where we were staying the next two days. The room was very luxury. I have never imagined does such a comfort exist on a boat. (i got some dormitory experience in Australia)
In the afternoon we went to this touristy place with the three caves. I am not really into caves, but it was a stunning view from the top of this little island. After our tourguide explained us on every stone what it is famous for we went for the next adventure. Kayaking! It was 4 PM but still very hot, especially with rowing. On the half way we stopped for a little swim, which was more than appreciated. After reaching our luxury boat again, we enjoyed the sunset with an ice cold beer and some oranged and dragonfruits. No time for a rest: the next thing i the schedule was cooking class. Our tourguide tony showed us how to make spring rolls. And guess what we have eaten for dinner? Right, the self made spring rolls, but also a lot of different other food. I enjoyed the food! After-dinner-program was either fishing, karaoke or just rest. We obviously chose the rest and sleeping part.
The second day was not so spectacular. In the morning we visited a fisherman house. We cruised with a bamboo boat and had some lunch on the boat before we were heading back to Hanoi!
All in all, it was a nice trip, a funny tour guide, and interesting to see what a 127usd tour is like and what people are booking such a trip.
I think we are getting spoiled backpackers 🙂
