We had a beautiful weekend in Rome.

It actually started with my Mum’s 60th Birthday.
My brother Ivo and me decided to give her as a present “A family weekend in Rome”

Everything will be organized, she just have to give us a date and we organize the rest.
This took a bit longer, due to some absences from my side (see previous posts).

One year later, we took the plane to Roma.
On board beside me, Ivo and his girlfriend Sabina, Wischi, my mum of course and her twin sister.
The only thing I have organized was the plane and the accomodation in an old AirBnb apartment.

First thing we did, was getting a Travelguide to check what we can see here.
Susi, my aunt, was very well equipped with her camera and she had everything on picture 🙂

In the afternoon of the first day we booked a Biketour with a funny italian guide.
We saw already a lot, only on the first day. Of course, also our stomach got enough attention with yummi Pasta, Pizza, Tiramisu, Gelato and and and…

Of course, we did all the famous sights in Rome. Second day, we had time to visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. It was very impressive. One tip here: pre-book a ticket before! It is definitely worth.

The third day was time to check out the Vatican. I pre-booked the ticket a day before on the Internet on a specific time.
The tip here from me. Pre-book the ticket and don’t worry if you are a bit early. Nobody was checking the time. The queue was crazy long… for the musem and for the St. Peters Basilica even longer. Important: In the sixteenth chapel there is a little exit on the right front corner, only for the groups. Just follow the people and you reach automatically the Basilica, without queuing.

Last tip… calculate enough time to go back to the airport. don’t underestimate the traffic in Rome. The airport bus is quite cheap, but remember to have a bit of spare time.

All in all, an amazing trip with the family. I hope there will be another similiar weekend trip next year
