From Oslob we took a bus in direction Moalboal! Again, you just stand on the street and hail a bus and he will take you the place you most likely looking for. Either back to Cebu – or on the west coast in direction Moalboal.
We arrived in Moalboal, “city centre” where we had to take a HABAL-HABAL or a Tricycle to go the the hotel. Obviously they scam tourists and charge way more than its worth. For this time we did not really care, since it just started heavily to rain. Our first hotel was a bit outside the tourist-places, therefore we just hired a motorbike as our first mission. The second mission was of course food! Looked up in Tripadvisor we found this very nice italian restaurant, rated currently on Top2.
we have tried almost all the restaurants there, and I can say. This place I can recommend ->
Otherwise, in Moalboal you cannot do too much if you are not into diving (i just come to that part) The “white beach” is okay, but not the nicest beach I have ever seen. Maybe this had also something to do with the miserable weather we had there.
Drinking is also not too bad, you can get fairly cheap Rum-Sprite for 1 CHF 🙂 Most of the people seem not to go too crazy there, because of the early dives etc.
Diving seem really a paradise there. Unfortunately I had a cold again and it was too risky for me going after 10 years on a dive not feeling very well. Everybody has done a dive in Moalboal is very enthusiastic about the Pescador Island. On the last days I still managed going on a wall dive and a felt a bit unsure. Maybe I also didn’t feel very well on the Dive Resort. However, the underwater world was very very impressive. I remember again, why it was for me the best country to dive! Although I have been to Great Barrier Reef, Indonesia, Red Sea – I still remember the Philippines one of the greatest place. Moalboal proved that once more – and few more dives followed after (see Blog Post Malapascua)
One more thing I want to mention about Moalboal is our second accomodation, which I can highly recommend.
Eve’s Kiosk was quite cheap, was in the middle of the restaurants, bars, etc, with a swimming pool and lovely people. I would definitely go back there.
The other good thing about Moalboal, it just 2-3 hours drive to/from Cebu City! It is a nice place, especially if you are into diving.
