Waikiki, the place for longboarding and more

We landed in Honolulu in the afternoon but somehow we did not make it to Waikiki until dinner time.

We were so hungry that we just went to the first place at the beach to eat. There was also a cool Hawaiian singer entertaining us. We were again tired and made it directly to our condo at Kuhio Avenue, very close to the Beach.

Because we were sleeping already early, I woke up at 3 AM and ready to discover the world. 🙂
At sunrise we started our hike to Diamond Head. We underestimated the way until the actual hike started, but we still had energy. It says you would have up to two hours for the hike. of course we don’t have so much time for this, so we made it within one hour. Almost nobody could caught up, with us Swiss hikers.
In the diamond head park was a little market, where we took a little snack (green drink which was a type of algae or something) and an Hawaiian sausage.
Next stop: ala moana beach. We were very surprised how less people were there, especially compared to Waikiki beach. It was good to feel the ocean and get a bit refreshed. As we have learned from our Mamis, we should not lie under the sun during lunch time, “it is not good for your skin”
True, so we went to the shopping center around the corner. Watching some hula hula dancers we could also check this part (see a traditional Hawaiian dance)
After some shopping it was still early, so we decided to head back to our condo. Traffic jam seems a bit of a problem here, but somehow we made it back. What is a visit in Waikiki without catching some waves at the beach break? We went back to the beach and enjoyed the last sunshine of today.
Dinner was amazing. Absolutely recommended: Me BBQ (#20 Tripadvisor) Korean food for only 10 $
So, let’s call it the night. We are excited about tomorrow, cruising with the car to the North Shore.
