Two weeks exploring Malaysia
It has been a while ago since we came back from our two weeks holidays in Malaysia. I was just too lazy to blog this time.
We also didn’t really have time or felt like planing our holidays to the deep end. That’s why it was a little “clueless” travelling this time.
We flew into Kuala Lumpur and took the taxi to China Town (Petaling). The first day we were very enthusiastic to explore the whole fucking capital of Malaysia 🙂
Bukit Bintang, Shopping, Petronas Towers, we had street food (Jalon Alor – absolutely worth checking out) beers, massage – well we did almost everything in the first hours of our 1st holi-day.
After few days in KL we took the bus to the Cameron Highlands. The busride was quite a ride through the hills of Malaysia. It was a narrow winding road and I was so happy when we arrived.
Cameron Highlands were quite a bit chilly compared to the rest of Malaysia. Once arrived we checked in the first best hotel for only few $$ and again were excited find out more of this little village in the hills. There were supposed to be some trails… yeah and we got lost almost before nightfall without any water nor food. The later it got we were indeed a bit afraid that we won’t get out of the jungle anymore. Therefore, we went the same way back – this time running! phu very exchausted we just wanted to get some food and get our next days planned. In Tannah Rata there were almost only Indian Restaurants. So once more Roti Canai for breakfast and Tandoori Chicken for dinner. Anyway, the one-day tour in Cameron Highlands was one of the Highlights of our travel. We visited very nice plances such as the Tea Plantation “BOH”, we did a jungletrekking (without getting lost) and get to know the nature and problems from the region. The strawberry farm, rose farm, butterfly farm were also very nice – although it may sounds boring.
Next stop was Penang. The island is full of a little bit of everything. Culture, Nature, Action and History. It is quite international but also has a charming malaysian side. Our Hotel was just next to the big shopping center. Amazing how these Shopping Center in Malaysia are americanized. Only on the floors in the top levels you have some Malaysian feelings. Although the ICE WATCH is probably sold in every fucking corner of every shopping center, street market and whatsoever. Hilarious! Penang is also well known for their street food. We probably ate 3 times more but only because we were curious what else does the street has to offer. And most of the times it was just amazing and soooo cheap. 10 chicken satay for 2-3 CHF. One of the days in Penang we visited the National Park of Penang. Deserted beaches, wildlife and again a very nice jungle track. Penang is very touristic friendly, there is even a bus which drives you around the city for free.
4th Stop was Langkawi. With the ferry we reached Langkawi within few hours. The ferry was sooo cooold, and when we arrived it was soo hot. You see its not easy when you are not prepared. in Langkawi we had bad luck with the weather and the hotel. It was almost every day raining and that was supposed to be our relaxing part of our holidays. Of course this doesn’t work because obviously you can’t lie on the beach when a massive storm is arriving. So we spent a lot of the day reading and finding ideas what to do next. Because it was low-season my plan of going a few days to Thailand was destroyed. There is no ferry in October from Langkawi – to Ko Lipe. Plan B was than to go earlier back to KL and spend there few days and money. Our Hotel aLoft was really nice for the last days of our holidays.
