EyeSurgery in Istanbul – Part 2

Another quite spontaneous trip brought to Istanbul.
me, as a tour-and eye-surgery guide and the other free fellows took the morning flight to Istanbul with SWISS.
After a lot of turbulence’s we safely arrived at Atatürk Airport. The procedure at the custom is, like last time quite time.

The driver, and assistant from the Eyestar surgery picked us up at the Airport and brought us to the Taksim City Hotel.
The hotel is simple, but on a very convenient location. Close to the eye-surgery-place and close to the shopping and nightlife area. Absolutely recommended.

Friday was the day of the check-up and if everything is fine, also the surgery itself.
The check takes more or less the whole morning. With different machines they analyse if your eye are suitable for a surgery. With honest feedback, they advise you to either do it or leave it. If you intend on going on a city trip anyway, i wouldn’t recommend to do the preliminary test in Switzerland. Just take it easy if you can’t do it.

The Surgery in the afternoon is over quickly. They will tell you exactly what you need to do and it really can’t go wrong. Trust these people… they have a lot of experience. Afterwards you get three different kind of drops which you have to put in your eyes frequently. Make sure you wear the sunglasses to protect from wind, rain or dust. It’s recommended to sleep after the operation a couple of hours.

The next days my friends were all fit again and were able to join us for sightseeing.
Of course you can spend a week of Istanbul and you haven’t seen everything.. but these are must-go-places:

Sultan-Ahmet-Moschee
Grand Bazaar
Harbor
Kebab Restaurant
Turkish Delight Souvenir Store (according to Wischi)

reminds me, whenever you look for food around Taksim you probably see always the same kind of food. That’s why I recommend to have a look at the places recommended on Foursquare. There is indeed better food than just Kebab or this random meat plates. We really had a very nice weekend, also meeting some Turkish friends of Wischiro who brought us to a very nice seafood restaurant. Everybody left this place with a big big smile. (especially mr. gangnam)

All in all, it was a very funny, interesting and worthwhile trip to Istanbul.
I can recommend this city to everybody – especially if you are interested in a surgery for 1200 EUR (for both eyes, incl. airport transfer, drops, german speaking assistance)

Feel free to contact me.
I can organize a trip for you. Therefore check my Mila Page

PS. Did you know that Istanbul is after Shanghai the second biggest city in terms of population. Check Wikipedia
