It was quite a spontanous trip to Guadeloupe. If you had asked me few months earlier i probably didnt even know what country this island belongs to. If you, my lovely reader also don’t know, its okay. wikipedia can help you ;o)
So this trip began with a flight over Paris directly to Point a Pittre. From there we had a driver who brought us to La Moule. This is the town where we will stay for the next two weeks. The surfcamp is a bit located outside of the ‘town’ and the bungalows are more or less in a little tropical park. We also heard the frogs, cockroaches, etc as soon as we arrived
The Allamanda Surfcamp is a bit outside of Le Moule, in direction to St. Francois. It has around 4 little bungalows and an amazing swimming pool and a lounge with hammocks. What do you need more? We shared the camp with three young Swiss guys, a Swiss couple, and a blind guy from Germany with his friend. A funny mix…. Almost every day we went to the Spot “Point-a-Pitre”. I have never seen such a clear water – truly carribean sea 🙂 i love it! but it came better… the waves were ideally for our surf-level. not too big, and not too boring. Sometimes it took a while until another set came in. At the end of the holidays we understood why we went there almost every day. I have never been on such an amazing place, without dozens of people in the line up. Anse Bertrand was another spot, however, not really my type. Too many stones, hard to get in – hard to get out.
In the afternoon we usually find a place to eat and discovered the island. The surfspot was always around 50min by car away… and after the third day we also found our way back.
Somtimes quite compliacted without any signs on the street… and these people are all speaking French. Without a car you are quite lost in Guadeloupe… just way more flexible. We also made a trip to St. Anne, Gosier, St. Francois. Sunday we also take the chance to visit the other part of the island. It was completely different. It was quite rainy, okay there is also the rainforest, not so many tourists, quiet but with wonderful coast and exhilarating nature. Unfortunately we didnt have too much time, so we were not really going on a long hike, although its certainly worth it. We also visited another beach, which was a little isolated. The atmosphere with the black sand, the caipirinhas, the crepes and the carribean music made it also a special part of Guadeloupe.
All in all, its definitely an island i will go back. Sooner or later, but i will!
Hangloose
