Bangkok to Siem Reap
we had a wonderful time in Bangkok – we were shopping like hell, we all love the thaifood, and we had a perfect time with Sam who showed us all around Bangkok. It was hard for me to leave Thailand – but of course I am very excited about Cambodia. We booked the bus from the hotel and thought it would be very safe and comfortable. We didnt know what expected us later on.
Here it goes: we entered a minibus with the expectation the next 6 hours sitting in there and getting easely to Siem Reap. Well … yeah the ride until the border to Cambodia took us approx. 5 hours and went quite alright beside I had to puke and felt terrible sick :/ however… at the border they told us to fill in the forms for the visa. they wanted 35 dollars instead of 20 dollars (like the visa on arrival) I also had only one photo and had to pay 100 bath more and it wasnt a problem anymore. Jehmsei also had problems getting a multiply visa although for Wischiro and Sovi wasnt a problem at all in Phnom Penh.
Afterwards the guy gave us two options. 1) waiting for the from the border to Siem Reap, which will leave 3 hours later and we didnt had to pay extra 2) we can take a taxi for 10 dollars more per person and it will bring us to the hostel we have chosen in S.R. well.. we were not really in a good mood and condition so we decided getting a taxi. Anyway, first we went through the thai custom, which was easy. Afterwards, unfortunately was the cambodian custom. So our guy gave us again two options 1) we can wait with all the other people at the custom which take around 2 hours 2) we can go the express way and pay 6 more dollars per person.
Wholy shit – what game are they playing with us? of course we actually didnt have a choice so we took the express option. Afterwards we finally got into the taxi which took us to S.R center. On the way we drove over a dog, but appaerently it was quite normal and not a big deal. So when we arrived in S.R. we had to change to a Tuktuk and the driver wanted another dollar per person getting us to the hotel. no this time not… we insisted getting us there for free.
thats our story about getting from Thailand to Cambodia.
