30th July – 1st August 06 Muscat – Oman
Sponatnously Adi and me decided going to Oman (where is that?) for 2 days over our national holiday 1st August.
On the 30th July we caught up at the airport where we checked in and few minutes later we were in the beautiful plane A330 from Swiss. After arround 6hrs playing WWM (wer wird millionär?) we arrived in Dubai. Stopover… Anyway… after another 40 minutes we arrived in Muscat capital of Oman (still don’t know where that is?!) After getting an valid visa we looked arround and took the next taxi. Hours it took till our driver could understand us and knew where we wanted to go. … And then, we arrived in our MAJAN Hotel(attention pronunciation”matschaaaan”) So, Mila got hungry and was not tired anymore… mmmmmmh we ate a yammie Club-house Sandwhich plus an Indian dish. Mmmmhhh… I feel like drinking a beer… mhhh is it allowed drinking here? I think we had to go to bed.. Oman is boring.. nothing is going on… Rambling arround we met an Omani which showed us THE BANDS of the Hotel… Excited we entered the “Club” Arabian Band: few girls with beautiful dresses.. didn’t really dance, I think for the Omani’s it is just looking a few girls without any towels arround the face. 😛 Going further the Omani showed us the Russian and the African “Band”! Much more action in the Russian Club. Girls were dancing to Pop Music… and after every hour they made a break and took some clothes off. Anyway… after our beer and laughing about other tourists we went to bed, where we slept fabulous.
Next day we got up and our Friend “HEINZ” was with us from the first minute of the day. It was hooooot and humid! Breakfast was awesome (wasn’t Adi? can’t remember everything anymore.. you know) However, we took a Taxi and he drove us to the Beach. Okay that was the beach… rather special beach. Some Japanese were swimming, and no other people…. Very quiet but somehow special! We walked along the beach and looked arround like typical tourists. Nooo, hang on! We aren’t typical tourists which we wanted to demonstrate with River Crossing and Rock Climbing. After we managed that professionally we walked along the promenade and we didn’t see anything… Some cars passed by and left was the ocean and right was the desert. All of a sudden a Starbucks Coffee appeared. In the middle of nowhere. Certainly we drunk a Mango Lassi and looked at the funny Omanis behind. Mila like, she started talking. The one, called Casanova from Oman explained us how he handle his women (plural of course) .. and wanted to know everything.. While talking he played with his AUDI Key and finally asked us to come with them to town and smoke shisha. Why not? Why should we? Anyway… we left Starbucks Coffee and those funny Players. (we will find some other omanis in town)
We achieved our target! CROWN HOTEL, where the SWISS Crew stayed. Dominic said whe should visit him,.. so here we are. At the reception we asked for Dominic. Because we didn’t know anything more from him (Surname … ) the guys there were very friendly and looked and found out in which room he stayed. “ey domi wa machsch? Was du bisch na am mötze? Chuuum abe, jez wird eis gschötttet? Miar sind die met de ID Tickets” he came and we drunk a beer (wasn’t like that, adi?) Anyway ,… afterwards we ate a clubhouse sandwich with a lovely LJ (Lime Juice) Afterwards we caught another taxi (best price ever…) and we arrived on a market. Place to be? Definetly.. We walked arround.. They sold everything. Eggs (which are usually on our Club House Sandwich), Huts and dresses (for omanis, but adrian and mila, as almost the original omanis had to buy such a cap and dress as well), sisha (ohhhh still remember this cute Indian sales-assistant…. ) However, a lovely taxi driver drove us back to the Hotel and gave Adrian his mobile Nr. (Point for him)! After a huge dinner … and some beers and decided going back to the Bands – Russian Band of course! White Wine – White Wine and White Wine again! Drinking and looking at the girls (still that ugly) While the break the girls came to the audience and thanked for looking … (anyway… Point for both of us) After another white wine and I already felt dizzy… Adi drunk a Arak and I got suddenly a Tequilla and the waiter said it is from him… an omani just paid me a Tequilla! Big fault ever! Disgusting… and we walked to our room… can’t remember though! After fighting and dropping water all over the bed we slept quietly and deep^^
Next day,.. friend “Hunger, Klääbrig and Heinz” were with us from the morning. We decided going to the big shopping center Carrefour in Muscat. The best taxi we ever caught! First song: shalalalala next song: we re going to Ibiza and so on! Ohhhhhh Party total! From now on we only enter a taxi with Venga boys-CD’s 😉 Okay, Carrefour was huge and cheap. We bought a LJ (okay more than one, because we loved it.. ei liebi für Limejuice) Rambling arround, bought some fruits and than we discovered the playground of Oman. ELVIS, Hit-the-Dog, Motorracing, ahh you could play everything. Of course we were gambling and putting so much money in it. but we had fun… and than .. we got some tickets and we could choose something. SHREK braclet and some stickers.. woW what a investion! Time for lunch! Mc Donalds, KFC, Subway… everything was there. We chose KFC because we really felt like eating CHICKEN CHICKEN.. en kentucky is one love worth!
Time went by.. and we end up eating and drinking in the 24 hours restaurant in our hotel. Awesome again! Fish, and Vegie Food ,and Steak.. Lime Cake and Caramel creme.. everything! Another Fosters and it looked like that we just had few hours left in Oman. Adi dissapeard in the toilett and changed clothes (he really wore the Omani suit with the hut) Hilarious! We took a taxi to the Airport and after Duty Free Shopping we entered the plane and start playing “Wer wird Millionär” Before we took off I got the million, but we didn’t get bored… opposite it was even funnier because we almost know every question and answer!
In the morning we landed at arround 7.A.M. and we haven’t slept a lot.. anyway.. few minutes later I was working the whole long day… .) but it was WICKED –
WE LOVE OMAN?
WHY OMAN?
BECAUSE EVERYBODY ELSE DON’T
BECAUSE THE OMANIS ARE FRIENDLY
BECAUSE THE OMANIS WEAR FUNNY CLOTHES
BECAUSE THE CIGARETTES (BOX) COSTS JUST 15 CHF
BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL SHISHA
BECAUSE THE WEATHER IS MUCH BETTER
BECAUSE THE LANDSCAPE CONSTISTS OF ROCKS AND DESERT.
BECAUSE WE WERE THERE…
